On Saturday at the Canadian Open, pro-golfer Hunter Mahan was leading his way to victory after 2 rounds when his wife went into labour. Hunter Mahan withdrew from the game when he got the call that his new born baby was on the way. He lost out on a potential winnings of 1 million dollars just so he could be there when his very first child was born. If you ask me this man definitely deserves the father of year award!
Pro-golfer Hunter Mahan was well on his way to a Canadian Open victory when suddenly he dropped out of the competition. Why, you ask? Because the Orange, Calif. native got the call that his wife was in labor. Mahan lost out on a $1 million prize, but we think everyone can agree it was a no-brainer decision. The baby arrived one month early, hence why Mahan was caught a little off guard.

Snedeker won the Canadian Open on Sunday, a day after Hunter Mahan withdrew with the lead before the third round when his wife went into labor. Kandi Mahan gave birth to daughter Zoe Olivia early Sunday in Texas. “Zoe will be getting a very nice baby gift from me,” Snedeker said. “I can’t thank Kandi enough for going into labor early. I don’t know if I’d be sitting here if she hadn’t. But that is a way more important thing than a golf tournament. I missed a golf tournament when my first was born, and it was the best decision I ever made. I’m sure Hunter would say the same thing.”
